RESILIENT HOME / HIGH-END HOMESTEAD ...
Livingroom

A large window array (20 feet across, 12 feet at the apex) extends across the south side of the livingroom and kitchen. It is both attractive and functional—it serves to bring sun energy into the house on cold winter days, providing free supplemental heat. A tiled masonry wall is a central feature of the room. It is not only beautiful but also moderates and stores the heat from the winter sunlight and the heat from the wood stove, radiating it back into the room after dark or the end of the fire. The livingroom features two built-in oak bookcases and an adjacent built-in nick-nack unit. Built-in lighting includes a ceiling fan/light, reading-light sconces, and recessed lights.
