Auxiliary Canning Area
An auxiliary canning area in the garage features
a separate oven, with cabinets and counter space on either side.
This provides a separate space to do summertime canning, allowing
the thermal mass of the concrete floor to soak up the heat load,
rather than adding it to the living spaces of the house. It is also
a convenient way to collocate all the canning equipment and supplies
in one place. The canning area also has a space for an upright freezer
or second refrigerator. Its electrical outlet is among the circuits
protected by the battery backup system.

Tool/Work Area
Next to the canning station is a workbench/tool
storage area. Both areas feature high-illumination fluorescent lighting.
