SAM PHILLIPS – FAN DANCE
GP Mini-Review: While Sam Phillips has always put out quality material, she really found her groove a few years back with the release of Fan Dance. In it she exploits her talent for turning anguish and elation into hauntingly warm, melodic, modern alt-folk-rock.

THE CYRKLE – RED RUBBER BALL (A COLLECTION)
GP Mini-Review: "Red Rubber Ball" was the song that made The Cyrkle pop fav's back in the 1960s. "Turn Down Day"—perhaps the best laid-back beach song ever done—cemented them in musical history. But many other songs on this collection are noteworthy as well.

ASIA MINOR – CROSSING THE LINE
GP Mini-Review: Throaty flute and complex instrumentation sometimes give this music a "Tull meets Yes" feel, while at other times the vocals and synths are reminiscent of Camel, Nektar, and early Eloy. This is top-notch prog—an obscure but important find.

Funny Quote
|
"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
– Douglas Adams

Thinky Quote
|
"The idea that we industrialized humans are immune to the natural laws that have restrained growth in other species—and humans in past social regimes—is to me so self-servingly blind as to be morally reprehensible."
– Richard Heinberg, Powerdown
