  Agriculture scientists meet in Mexico to discuss new efforts to combat potato blight, a deadly spud fungus. Using a video link from Washington, President Clinton kicks off the meeting by reciting a potato haiku while pressing a bag of fries to his breast.  
 
  1986   UNMILKED CEREAL PRICES  
 
  General Mills announces it will reduce the prices of its name-brand cereals by 30 to 70 cents per package. When a reporter points out that cereal would still be more expensive per pound than ground beef or chicken, the spokesman replies, "Yes, but when's the last time you got a really neat prize inside a package of meat?"
