The Conspiracy Theory Phenomenon —
28 Jan 2013 —
Gary Null hosts a panel discussion about the problem of truth seeking being tarnished with the stigmatized term "conspiracy theory." History shows many instances when assertions of conspiracy and high-level wrong-doing—at first derided as conspiracy theories—proved later to be true. But to maintain their positions of wealth and power, The Powers That Be seek to control the narrative of all stories. Part of that effort is to label any investigation that goes into areas they don't want looked at as a conspiracy theory, using the term to imply that both the theory and the theorist are nutty. But we would do well to remember two simple words that have held true throughout history about those in power: They lie.

The Power Principle and the Making of the US Empire —
26 Jan 2013 —
This is a radio adaptation of the film, The Power Principle, which examines 20th-century imperial activity in countries such as Iran, Guatemala, Congo, Chile, and Greece, unmasking the Cold War as a propaganda cover for the war between the resource-hungry US corp-gov and the rest of the world. Michael Parenti aptly called the film "a deeply informative account of the plunder, hypocrisy, and mass violence of plutocracy and empire; insightful, historically grounded, and highly relevant to the events of today."

Grave Reflections on Technology and Freedom —

This is an excellent historical perspective on the topics of technology, social control, and the rise of a totalitarian state in the future—which is our now. The talks are from Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, speaking presciently in 1962 on the prospects for a technototalitarian future. Then author Kurt Vonnegut discusses the madness of contemporary life in US, including how a collective amnesia permits the mainstream/corporate media to suppresses dissent and glorify US military aggression around the world. Finally, E. F. Schumacher asks whether we can create a system that would serve man and replace the current system that enslaves him.

Gregor MacDonald: What the End of Cheap Oil Means —
19 Jan 2013 —
Chris Martenson and Gregor Macdonald talk about the broken relationship between energy costs and economic growth. For much of the twentieth century, the developed world saw a steady march upwards in wages and living standards, due primarily to huge quantities of cheap, high-yielding liquid hydrocarbons. As we find ourselves stumbling forward on peak oil's "bumpy plateau," we suddenly find that economic growth is a lot harder to come by. This reality, though, is poorly reported on by mainstream media and is a taboo topic among policymakers.
